S&P Real Estate

A quarter century ago, Sid Landolt and Pete Dupuis were a team of two. Their history began in a suburb of Vancouver in 1983, with a company called Royal City Realty. Two years later, it evolved into RE/Max Royal City Realty, and quickly became the highest sales-per-agent RE/Max office in the North America-wide network — and one with a very long list of satisfied customers.

In 1989, focus shifted to project marketing with the co-founding of Milborne Real Estate. Over the next five years, the company sold more than 100 projects with a sales volume of $1.5 billion. As the resort real estate business boomed in the 1990s, Sid and Pete formed a company named Sapera (an acronym for Sid and Pete’s Excellent Real Estate Adventure) that would become instrumental in reinventing the selling process. The Limited Property Release program that was created — now an industry-wide standard — gave thousands of people the opportunity to own the resort home of their dreams, and fueled dynamic growth at Intrawest, which bought Sapera in 2000 and renamed it Playground.

In 2004, S&P Destination Properties was formed around the very simple idea of creating a legacy company that’s all about the people — team members, developers, co-op brokers and customers — who bring it to life and give it meaning.
